Tangy Tomatillo Salsa

(0)
"A mild yet pleasantly lip-puckering twist on one of the most delicious salsas around. Hints of smokiness from the broiled tomatillos and the perfect bite from the jalapeño – this isn’t a recipe to miss."

ingredients

  • 3 quartered Tomatillos
  • 1/2 sliced white onion
  • 1 tablepoons chopped garlic
  • 1/4 cup minced cilantro
  • 2 jalapeños
  • 1/2 juiced lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

  • Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. Make sure to de-seed the jalapeños and reserve the seeds to add in later according to desired amount of spice. Keep in mind that the ingredients will be blended, so don't worry about chopping anything too finely.

  • Step 2

Broil the tomatillo quarters, garlic and white onion slices for 5 minutes on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper

  • Step 3

When the veggies are done broiling (charred and soft but not burnt), let cool for 5-10 minutes.

  • Step 4

Once cooled, blend the tomatillo, garlic, onion and the rest of the ingredients together. Feel free to add the jalapeño seeds as desired. Without any, it will be pretty mild, but with all of them, it will be intensely spicy. I recommend about a pinch to a teaspoon for the perfect hint of spice.

  • Step 5

Transfer blended salsa to a jar and chill in the fridge for at least an hour to overnight

  • Step 6

Serve with chips or on top of tacos!! Enjoy!
