Friday calls for something special.. so instead of usual Bengali lunch thali here is my Friday favorite • Lentil, tempered with ghee, cumin, dry red chilies and a generous dose of fresh coriander • Alu Gobi, spicy cauliflower and potato curry • Chicken kofta curry • Winter special salad, beet, carrot, radish, onion sprinkled with lime juice, salt and black pepper powder and of course some green chilies
Today’s thali, bhat(steamed rice), mulo diye dal(lentil with radish), begun bhaja(fried eggplan), kumro bhaja(fried pumpkin), sorse bata diye tyngra mach(fish with mustard sauce)

Fennel.. a frequently used spice in my kitchen. Not only in my kitchen, from seasoning Italian sausages to Chinese five spice powder or our very own paanch foron(bengali five spice mix) one can find the presence of these greenish tiny dried seeds. How do you use fennel in your everyday cooking?
