Charred Brocc Florets with a Toasted Sesame Peanut Drizzle

(4)
"Charred broccoli is a batch cooking go-to around here! It’s salty and toasty with the perfect bit of crisp. We all love it, and you will absolutely catch everyone in the vicinity of the pan sneaking by to pick on those little crunchies! Combined with a quick and simple, creamy, slighty tangy peanut sauce and nutty toasted sesame seeds, this is best served up on a big beautiful platter with freshly grilled fish, chicken, steaks, or portobello burgers. Add this to your must-try list for summer entertaining!"

ingredients

Char the Florets

  • 1 pound broccoli florets, washed and dried
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Method

  • Step 1

Preheat oven to 375° and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

  • Step 2

In a large bowl, toss the broccoli florets in the olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Pour into a single layer on a sheet pan.

  • Step 3

Place in the oven for 45 minutes, tossing the florets halfway through.

  • Step 4

Remove and allow to cool for at least 5 minutes before handling.

ingredients

Prep the Peanut Sauce While the Florets Cook

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter, (homemade PB recipe on my site)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon coconut liquid aminos, or soy sauce
  • Chili flakes, for topping (optional)

  • Step 1

While the broccoli is in the oven, mix all ingredients together in a bowl using a whisk or fork until evenly combined. Serve on the side or drizzle over a platter of the charred florets.

ingredients

Toast the Sesame Seeds Before Serving

  • 1 1/2 tablepoons sesame seeds

  • Step 1

Add the sesame seeds to a small sauté pan. Toast over low-medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent burning, for about 5 minutes, until they are golden and smell toasted.

Assemble the Dish

  • Step 1

Place the charred florets on a large dish or serving tray and drizzle with the peanut sauce. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds on top. Add some chili flakes or place on the side if you want the option for some heat. Garnish with fresh lemon wedges and serve.
