This whole week my daughter has been sick ? (she's starting to feel better). I don't know about you but when my kids are sick my energy is drained pretty much ? Hence I wasn't getting enough ? Yesterday I woke up so late and barely had few minutes to get ready and leave the house ?! I usually leave the house at 6:45 to be at my parents' about 6:50, drop the kids off and leave to work ... . . . On Wednesday, the alarm went off at 5:30 instead of snoozing it, I "stopped" so it didn't go off every 8 minutes. I woke up, looked at my phone and the time was 6:36 am so that's super late . . . I get up all messy trying to rush but I'm still half asleep ? so I brush my teeth, wash my face, fix my hair (my short hair on the right side gets super messy in the morning), get dressed , wake my son Geo up and go downstairs. It's literally 6:45 and I'm still home ? I don't pack my son's lunch ? because I will ask mom to do it but I have to get something to eat for me. I fill up my water bottle, grab a mug and a tea ☕️ bag, my @lovesuja might greens. Then, I'm thinking no way I can make a salad now! So I grab an avocado, wash broccoli sprouts, grab the flat bread, a knife ? and the vegenaise jar - I throw everything in my lunch box , get the kids and bam we're in the car ? . . . I didn't meal prep this week for me or the kids coz I've been so drained from Avery's sickness but everything I grabbed was #healthy! Because I only keep #clean #healthy #food in my fridge, and pantry ! . . . How did I get here ? Years of deconstructing old habits and learning new habits and a new lifestyle. It's my life I don't think about it ! Yes I do eat junk once in a while but it's not the normal it's the exception. . . . You're gonna eat what you keep in your fridge and pantry. Hey there! It's Denise, I help busy moms lose weight, look and feel good. You're busy and sometimes it's easier to pass by El Pollo Loco drive thru and pick up a grilled chicken burrito. I get it! I've been there, done that! I used to go to McDonald's and get a happy meal with burger and fries at least 3 days a week and one day a week, I would go to Subway and get a tuna sandwich with barely any veggies. During lent, I would get Filet-O-fish every Friday. My breakfast was strawberry pop tarts and coffee. Some times, it was bagel and cream cheese. . . . Everything was "ok" ( you know constipation, sinus infections, acne, and getting sick were part of my life that to me it WAS normal) when I was in my 20s and early 30s. However, when my sinus infections became chronic migraines, in 2011 something had to change. "Food changes everything." . . . If I can do it, if I can healtherize my life YOU can too. If I can eat salads and vegetables, YOU definitely can. I hated meal preppring! I would see others do it and I'm like no way, I'm not portioning and doing all that jazz. Then in July 2016, my inlaws came to visit us and my mother in law started cooking and freezing. She cooked for 2 weeks straight-14 days. We would go to the store and buy all the groceries needed. She would get up early, cook at least 2-3 meals, and freeze them. Then we would go shopping ! . . . It's October 2016 and we still have few more containers full of cooked food in the freezer in the garage. Then, it hit me! Why don't I prepare my salads for the week and the kids lunches? So I began preparing on Sunday for the whole week and my life has changed tremendsouly! I can sleep another 30 minutes, can't beat that and I always have my healthy meal ready and packed. . . . On Sunday: 1- Wash your veggies 2- Make a huge salad like partay style as if you're feeding the neighbors and their kids 3- Portion in 5 medium containers ( Monday-Friday) 4- Put in the fridge 5- Prep your protein or carb ( I use the sprouted quinoa blend-amazing and light) andn portion into 5 smaller containers, and put in the fridge Dressing: lemon juice, grape seed oil, sea salt and cumin? A bagel and cream cheese have approximately 450 "empty" calories. A smoothie with one banana, a pear, nectarine, two sticks of celery and a cup of spinach has approximately 276 calories ! The latter is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The 276 calories will fill you up because it's #nutrition versus just empty food that will keep you hungry and wanting more! Eat real food, from nature you know fruits, veggies, grains, legumes & ditch the counting calories. The calories don't make you fat, it's the empty food that does! Not saying you can't eat the meat or the fish, the tortillas or whatever you like to eat.
