Pic by @feelings_on_platter - I probably first heard about "Gulgulas", a sweet-savoury snack from my grand father. As kids, he used to tell us stories about how Gulgulas used to be so cheap during his time and how he relished the taste of it et al. I, on the contrary was never really fond of it until just recently. . . "Gulgula" is a very common snack in Odisha, especially in the interiors parts. It's mostly a sweet and a little savoury snack made out of wheat flour, a bit of semolina, baking powder, a bit of salt and sugar. Then the balls are deep fried to be had with tea. That "Cha" aau "Gulgula" combo is bliss for many people. . . While I may not be super fond of it, I do have fond memories attached with it. The name "Gulgula" always brings back memories of my Grand father telling us stories about it with a child-like sparkle in his eyes. So how can I not pop a couple of it when I am home? #feelingsonplatter . . Pic by @bellydriven - The Dahi Bara, Aloo Dum au Guguni First Course...😉 There is this excitement in the house...ah well rather I am super excited... this combination has the ability to get me on a different kind of high...that's what foodgasms are made of... For the uninitiated, this is the famous street food from Odisha...just like vada pav is to Mumbai or Misal to Pune... There are n number of versions....and the flavor profile is definitely to talk about The fiery aloo dum is quite a contrast to the cool dahi vada and you get the chatpata from the Guguni...And never miss the garnish... especially the Jeera Lonka Gundo (cumin chilli powder) and that kala namak and mixture on top for the crunch... I made a huge huge batch for a lunch I hosted yesterday...and still have leftovers if anyone wants to join in all the fun...😍😍😍 ---------------------------------------------- Follow @bellydriven for more such adventures and do not forget to tag me to your kitchen chronicles... #bellydriven #indianfood #foodtalkindia #indiancuisine #foodmaniacindia #indianfoodtales #foodism #odiafood #eatstagram #indianfoodbloggers #f52grams #thefeedfeed #homemade #snacks #nomnom #delhifoodblogger #eeeeeats #punefoodie #indiankitchen #thefeedfeed #bhubaneswarbuzz
