Recipe Intro From aomi_coelho
Ooohhh you must try these maple spiced nuts! A little sweet and a little spicy, they are just right for snacking or adding to salads. It's the perfect time of year to add warming spices to the diet to aid digestion, and these are a great low-glycemic alternative to all the sugary holiday treats.
INGREDIENTS
1 egg white
3 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cumin
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
zest of 1/2 a lemon (make sure to use organic citrus when eating the zest)
1/2 tsp salt
DIRECTIONS
Combine all ingredients. Pour this mixture over 4 cups of nuts (my blend has pecans, Brazil nuts, cashews, and almonds). Spread on a baking sheet, and bake at 300 for about 35-40 minutes.
