ingredients
- 2 count sliced chicken breasts
- 200 grams plain flour
- 1 count egg
- 250 gram panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 pinch salt & pepper
Method
Step 1
start by cutting the chicken breasts into thin strips.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, add the flour and a pinch of sea salt and black pepper. Then in a second bowl, crack the egg and whisk it to make an egg wash. In a third bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, the garlic powder, the onion powder, the smoked paprika (optional), and salt and pepper.
Step 3
Coat each chicken strip first in the flour mixture, making sure it is evenly coated. Next, dip the chicken strips into the egg wash, allowing any excess egg to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken strips with the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well.
Step 4
Then lightly spray the breaded chicken tenders with oil and place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Leave the crisper plates in and make sure they are not overcrowded. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Step 5
Air fry at 200°C for around 8 to 10 minutes, until the tenders are golden brown and crispy. Don’t forget to turn them halfway through cooking to ensure and even crisp, remember all air fryers cook at different speeds and of course the thinner you cut your chicken strips the faster they will cook.
