ingredients

  • 2 inch piece turmeric
  • 3 inch piece ginger
  • juice of large 1 lemon
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Method

  • Step 1

    Place the ginger and turmeric pieces in a blender. Add water, carrot, and lemon juice. Process for a few minutes, until you won't see any large pieces.

  • Step 2

    Pass the drink through a fine sieve. Add maple syrup, freshly cracked black pepper, and stir. Add more maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter taste.

  • Step 3

    Pour in desired glasses (try 15 ml shot glasses) or jars and store in a fridge for 7 days.

  • Step 4

    Discard the pulp or let it dry in a sunny place and use it later as a spice for your curries, stir-fries or soups.
