ingredients

  • 2 quarts grapeseed oil
  • 2 quarts fresh oysters
  • 2 cup cornmeal
  • 2 tabelspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Method

  • Step 1

    Shuck oysters and rinse off any grit

  • Step 2

    Heat deep-fryer to 375 degrees F

  • Step 3

    Combine cornmeal and spices in a large plastic bag

  • Step 4

    Put oysters in the bag a cover with coating

  • Step 5

    Fry the oysters in batches in the oil

  • Step 6

    When they are done, the oysters will float and be golden brown

  • Step 7

    Drain on a towel and serve immediately
