- 2 pound boneless pork shoulder
- 3 tabelspoons packed brown sugar
- 1 tabelspoons kosher salt
- 1 tabelspoons smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tabelspoons vegetable oil
- 1 bottle medium bottled red wine
- 16 ounce BBQ sauce
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2
Trim excess fat from pork.
Step 3
Cut into large pieces to fit in a large Dutch oven.
Step 4
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin, then season with black pepper. Rub all over pork.
Step 5
In a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat, heat oil.
Step 6
Working in batches, add pork and sear on all sides.
Step 7
Pour in the red wine and cover with the lid.
Step 8
Roast in the oven for about 3 hours.
Step 9
Remove and shred the pork with two forks.
Step 10
Serve with buns and barbeque sauce.
